Breeders Teach In & Seminar
|

On Sunday 16th August 2009 the UKRBS held their first ever Breeders seminar and what a real success it was. We had a fantastic day, we couldn't have hoped for it to go any better. The atmosphere was great, everyone enjoyed themselves and hopefully learned something.

There were 49 in attendance, old breeders and new and I am sure we all went home with a little 'something' Perhaps a fact that we did not realise before, or just reassurance and answers to questions that had been bothering or confusing us for some time. Older established breeders almost always enjoy meeting up at these events too. Even if they are not part of the organisation of the day, their input and experience is always welcome!!
12 cats were also in attendance and all behaved impeccably (the humans didn't do too badly either!!!) We feel it is such a must to have these cats at the seminar to compare and see the "look and type" of the Ragdoll. We would like to thank the breeders who kindly brought them for us to assess.
We also had a very informative talk on HCM by Professor Tim Gruffydd-Jones from Langford who kindly gave up his time for us.

A big thankyou to all our members who arrived from ALL over the UK to this event. From Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the West Country from all over the Home Counties and the Midlands this was a major achievement for such a new club. THANKYOU ALL for making those journeys. We all had FUN, smiled a lot and shared knowledge and that is what it is all about.

Some of the comments we have had from our breeders that attended are :-
Well done to the committee of the UKRBS - today was a fantastic success!
The attention to detail shows such professionalism - we're proud to be members.
Thank you for all your effort and hard work

Yes everything went really well. many thanks to you all. It was really nice to put faces to names and everyone was so friendly. Look forward to the next seminar. Gill x
I just wanted to say what a great time we had at the seminar and the day was a real credit to the committee and all their hard work. It is very encouraging to see a new, forward thinking club like this one have such a good turnout from all-over the country and I am sure that it will go from strength to strength.
It was a real treat for us to attend as we hardly ever manage to travel outside of Scotland, but it was so nice to meet everyone and match faces to names. Their was a real cosy and friendly atmosphere. I certainly felt welcome.
The seminar was great to be part of and it has been such a long time since I last did one! And there were some really lovely Raggies on display. Quite a few I could happily take home
I found the talk given by Tim Gryffyd-Jones extremely useful and I am so pleased that Langford lab has had such a good response from breeders in such a short time. May their research continue. The club has done so well in pushing this cause forward and that is something to be proud of.
Thank you again for a lovely weekend. Great venue by the way. What a pretty village and weren't we lucky with the weather! It was actually raining when we left Scotland, typical LOL!
Joanna (and Roz)
Lastly the UKRBS would like to thank the companies and people out of the club who kindly sponsored our seminar either with thier time or supplies. MANY THANKS.
